Sorry ladies, I win.

And I thought he couldn't get any cuter... first my husband had tulips (yes, tulips-they're much prettier than roses in my opinion) sent to me the day before Valentine's Day because, as he said, "I saved money by having them delivered today instead of on Valentine's Day."

Could I BE any more proud that my frugality rubbed off?

Then, he comes home with a Valentine made up "entirely of office supplies."

He came up with the idea all by himself. How adorable! Sorry, the reasons he listed underneath are for our eyes only ;)

We had made up the rule last year that we couldn't spend any extra money on gifts for each other (besides Christmas). It's the best, I love that it forces both of us to get creative.

Thanks to my friends at Making Life Whimsical, I was all set for my gift with this date night printable. All I had to do was supply the container.

I just printed it off, glued it to the box with adhesive, and filled it with date night ideas. Pinterest is chock full of em.

Unfortunately because of my job (dance teacher), we couldn't go out for dinner. I've pretty much always worked nights during the week since we met, I don't think we've ever actually "celebrated" Valentine's Day ON Valentine's Day. So, we have plans to make homemade pizza tomorrow :)

What did you and your "special someone" do?

  1. Just make sure the youtube+popcorn night isn't a busy youtube night. You wouldn't want a buffering frustration + popcorn date...haha.

  2. My husband did the same thing! He ordered my roses to arrive two day before V-day because he said they were cheaper and that he wanted me to enjoy them on the actual day! Yey! Frugal Hubbies!

  4. You guys are so creative Bre and love the box you made up with all the different shared times for you to have. Awesome!! My husband spoiled me and truly was surprised, because he said we wouldn't spend anything and then in the end went back on that, because he said he just couldn't not. I loved this though and looks like a very, Happy Valentine's Day was had :)

  8. I love the date box idea! My husband and I have a little jar that we put 12 date ideas into, we pick one out a month and set aside a weekend for it. It's been brilliant so far and really made us spend more quality time together.
